10 Highest Grossing Sci-Fi Films Of All Time (Adjusted For Inflation)

5. Jurassic Park

E T BOX OFFICE
Universal

ADJUSTED FOR INFLATION: $2.15 billion

ORIGINAL BOX OFFICE: $1.032 billion

The only film on the list to be based on a novel, Jurassic Park brought life to Michael Crichton's seminal tale of the ill-fated dinosaur amusement park. Arguably this Spielberg classic is the ultimate sci-fi film on the list as it truly emphasises the actual science involved in genetically engineering these Jurassic reptiles back from the dead.

Spielberg's third endeavour in to sci-fi after Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. the Extraterrestrial, this is perhaps his greatest and most revolutionary contribution to the genre.

This film, which boasted groundbreaking CGI alongside timeless storytelling, managed to propel the film to temporarily become the highest grossing film of all time before being overtaken by Titanic in 1997.

An avid cinephile, love Trainspotting (the film, not the hobby), like watching bad films ironically (The Room, Cats) and hate my over-reliance on brackets (they’re handy for a quick aside though).
