10 Highest Grossing Sci-Fi Films Of All Time (Adjusted For Inflation)

6. Jurassic World

E T BOX OFFICE
Universal Pictures

ADJUSTED FOR INFLATION: $1.85 billion

ORIGINAL BOX OFFICE: $1.67 billion

Jurassic World is in many ways similar to The Phantom Menace, a legacy sequel to a popular sci-fi trilogy that was relying on nostalgia to make bucks at the box office. Similar to The Phantom Menace, Jurassic World also managed to attract a devoted audience and slightly more positive reviews.

Heavily relying on this nostalgia of Spielberg's original 1993 film, the popularity of Chris Pratt - fresh off Guardians of the Galaxy - and a universal love of dinosaurs, it was only beaten to highest grossing film of 2015 by one other juggernaut that year (which we will get to later).

Jurassic World did earn praise for its attempt to say something about consumerism and its meta commentary about living up to the original but it also did rely heavily on CGI and predictable storytelling which garnered an equal amount of criticism.
