10 Highest Rated Horror Films Of 2015

9. Wyrmwood: Road Of The Dead

Tomatometer Percentage: 79% Australia's most-pirated film of 2015 earns its place here as a rip-roaring micro-budget ride through a zombie apocalypse. As aptly described by Empire Magazine, Wyrmwood is Mad Max meets Dawn of the Dead, produced by a couple of regular joes who made it in their spare time with the help of their pals. The result is a fist-pumping, crowd-pleasing Aussie grindhouse flick that lends itself to drinking games and Halloween horror movie marathons. The plot is pretty much what you would expect it to be; zombies, apocalypse, main character goes off to rescue his sister from psychotic doctor who wants to experiment on her, etc etc. The usual. In any event, viewers did not turn up for the plot; rather, they turned up for fun with nail guns, zombies being pumped for fuel and sadists-with-rhythm dancing around to KC & the Sunshine Band. Considering the fact that it was made on a shoestring and/or a prayer, the quality of the end result really can't be denied. Director Kiah Roache-Turner and brother Tristan Roache-Turner (who co-wrote the script) absolutely achieved what they set out to do. You should probably expect to see the gnarly battle armour and masks of the main characters to pop up around the 31st of October every year from now on, too. Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead has 'cult classic' written all over it.
