10 Highly Questionable Actions Committed By Jack Sparrow
7. He Sends Will To Davy Jones To Settle His Debt
If Jack is anything, it's crafty. He knows how to get people to do what he wants, usually by talking them in circles using his exceptional vocabulary and confusing them more than anything. You'd think that by sailing with him, Will would have learned this by now, but falls into one of Jack's traps after Elizabeth is imprisoned. Jack shows Will a cloth showing the key to the chest containing Jones' heart, and convinces Will to help him steal it:
Will: "You want me to find this?" Jack: "No, you want you to find this, because the finding of this finds you incapacitorially finding and or locating in your discovery the detecting of a way to save your dolly bell, ol' what's-her-face, savvy?" Will: "This is going to save Elizabeth?" Jack: "How much do you know about Davy Jones?" Will: "Not much." Jack: "Yeah, it's going to save Elizabeth."
The two later come across a shipwreck, and Jack sends Will to investigate (knowing full well that Jones is responsible). He tells Will that if Jones shows up, to simply say that Jack Sparrow sent him to settle his debt. Desperate to save Elizabeth, I doubt Will thought for two seconds about what that sentence might actually mean, because when Jones does arrive, that's exactly what he tells him, which gets him added to the crew of the Flying Dutchman.
Davy Jones: "What is your purpose here?" Will: "Jack sent me... to settle his debt."
