10 Highly Questionable Actions Committed By Jack Sparrow

3. He Takes Angelica's Innocence

Angelica is a beautiful but deadly pirate played by Penelope Cruz in the fourth film of the series, On Stranger Tides. She is a master of disguise and excellent con artist, and learned from the best: Captain Jack Sparrow. She's also the daughter of Blackbeard, and grew up in a Spanish convent. She was brought there by Blackbeard, who didn't think he could raise her on his own, and instead she was raised by nuns. Just before she was going to take her vows, Jack stumbles into the convent, mistaking it for a brothel, and takes her virginity. Angelica was thus unable to take her vows, and instead ran off with Jack to engage in a life of piracy. The two traveled and pillaged together for a while before Jack left her. She never quite forgave him for the betrayal, and part of her ruthlessness was caused by his abandonment.
Angelica: "You betrayed me! You seduced me and you used me. I was innocent of the ways of men." Jack: "You demonstrated a lot of technique for someone I supposedly corrupted."
As we know, Jack's had quite the history with women, so this particular story isn't very surprising and certainly fits in his character. It is interesting, however, that he helped turn her into the dangerous con artist that would eventually land her at her father's side as First Mate of his ship, The Queen Anne's Revenge.
