Considering how dark Batman has gotten, both with the Christopher Nolan films and the upcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, it's especially jarring going back to watch Batman & Robin, which treats the character like a complete joke. And nobody involved in the movie can stop telling you how sorry they are.

Director Joel Schumacher has sort of taken the blame for the movie, saying "I take full responsibility for Batman & Robin." He's repeatedly blamed studio interference, though, saying that he wanted to make a more adult movie but Warner Bros. wanted something kid friendly. To remind everyone of what they were going for, Schumacher would yell into his megaphone on set, "Remember, everyone, this is a cartoon."

The batsuit is of course the subject of a lot of complaints, especially because of the ridiculous looking nipples built into it, but apparently George Clooney also couldn't even move his head when he was wearing the costume. "If Batman had to wear the suit that [I] had to wear, everyone [in Gotham City] would die," he said.

Clooney himself absolutely hates the film, calling it a waste of money as early as 2002. He's since said that he destroyed the part of Batman. It's okay, George. It wasn't your fault.
