6. Fred: The Movie
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e03SVZ_tz3o Cover your ears. Like a more credible Derek Acorah, this review sees Kermode channels his bubbling anger through the voice of Fred the title character of the heavily slated Fred: The Movie. This is not a typically outraged and angry Kermodian rant, but a primal scream of frustration. In Kermode's typically unique way it gives the listener a genuine feel for the irritation Mark felt while watching this film, by making the scathing review equal parts hilarious and insufferable. The main character, Fred, has an irritating yell which he utilises frequently throughout the film. The review quickly descends into Mark loudly imitating this noise until Simon is forced to turn off his microphone. Mark's reasoning? 'That was five seconds... I had ninety minutes.' The review finishes rather abruptly when Simon says 'you've lost your broadcasting rights, you are no longer a broadcasting legend', all whilst Mark continues to manically laugh and yell.
