10 Hilarious Movie Gags Everyone Missed

5. When Mia Is Overdosing, The Board Games "The Game Of Life" & "Operation" Are Visible - Pulp Fiction

Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction is not just a brilliantly written film but also a highly meticulous one from a directorial perspective, awash in deep layers of obsessive detail that even hardcore fans won't notice.

Perhaps the most hilariously morbid sight gag in Tarantino's entire repertoire appears during the iconic sequence where a panicked Vincent Vega (John Travolta) brings an overdosing Mia Wallace (Uma Thurman) to the home of his drug dealer Lance (Eric Stoltz) in the hope of saving her life.

As they tend to Mia on the floor of Lance's living room, keen-eyed viewers might clock that the board games Operation and The Game of Life are strategically placed at the left-hand side of the frame.

Given that Vincent has to perform a makeshift operation of-sorts to revive Mia, injecting her in the heart with adrenaline, it's clearly an intentional, playfully grim flourish on the director's part. Wonderful.
