9. Double Dragon (1994)
Double Dragon was an absolutely kick-ass coin-up co-op game about a pair of twin brothers who kicked ass and took names by violently beating the shit out of any and all gangs which took their fancy. The film however, took the term "abject failure" to new heights, somehow failing to realise the somewhat singular premise of the video game - in case you missed it, that's dispatching nameless foes as violently as possible - while pairing up one actor who looks slightly asian (Mark Dacascos, who is actually Hawaiian) with one who absolutely does not (Scott Wolf). Then there's the weird hair-dos to boot; Alyssa Milano is blonde and short-haired, while Robert Patrick, fresh off the monumental success of
Terminator 2, somehow agrees to thoroughly embarrass himself with, well, you can see the above picture for yourself. Set in 2007 yet, like so many under-budgeted films, completely failing to convince of its futuristic timeframe, Double Dragon is a thoroughly cynical attempt to cash-in on the video game trend, and proof that no matter how simple the source material might be, there's always a filmmaker inept enough to completely balls it up.
