10 Hollywood Stars You Didn't Know Had Killed People

7. Oliver Stone

Oliver Stone came to public prominence during the '80s and the early '90s for writing and directing a series of films about the Vietnam War. Films such as Platoon (1986), Born on the Fourth of July (1989) and Heaven & Earth (1983). These films were compelling, elegiac, and particularly encouraging. This is surely due to the fact that Stone himself had a front row seat to the Vietnam War, in which he had participated as an infantry soldier. In April 1967, Stone enlisted in the United States Army, requesting combat duty. He killed several enemy soldiers with a grenade and contributed to more than 25 helicopter combat assaults. The future cinema legend earned a Bronze Star with "V" device for heroism in ground combat; he was wounded twice and received a Purple Heart with an Oak Leaf Cluster. Stone would of course go on to make a plethora of contemporary and controversial films that dealt with political and cultural issues, such as JFK, Natural Born Killers, and Nixon.
