In Captain America: The First Avenger, there is a clear romantic chemistry developing between the titular hero and Peggy Carter. After Carter had mentioned that she had shared fondue with Howard Stark, Captain America - not knowing what fondue was - assumed it meant she had been romantically or sexually involved with Stark. Later, when Captain America is pounced upon by female soldier Private Lorraine, Carter catches them kissing and reacts jealously. Captain America then asked her why he should think her and Stark hadn't been "fonduing". It was a moment of truly cringeworthy naivety from someone who was not only an obvious virgin, but also clearly very uncultured. Howard Stark would later put him right by saying "fondue is just cheese and bread, my friend."
