9. Friday The 13th Part VII: The New Blood - Ben's Head Squeeze
In the early stages Friday The 13th Part VII was meant to be a crossover between Jason and Freddy Kruger, but rival studios Paramount and New Line couldn’t agree on terms. Instead, we got arguably the worst instalment of the series, where Jason fights a moody psychic teenager.
The film is a dull, badly acted chore, and it doesn’t even have any decent gore to spice things up. This wasn’t the director’s fault, however, because practically every character had a bloody demise, but the ratings board insisted most of it was cut. Examples include the evil doctor getting gutted by Jason with a saw, and Tina getting an axe to the face.
By far the most unpleasant death was Ben's, whose head is grabbed by Jason and compressed into a bloody pulp. His eyes explode and blood spews out of his mouth; sadly this impressive effect can only be seen now in grainy workprint form since Paramount destroyed the footage years ago.
