7. The True Meaning Of 476 Barbary Street - Barbarian

Zach Cregger's stunning directorial debut Barbarian has taken the horror community by storm as of late, and with good reason, so we won't spoil the particulars here.

But Cregger did hide a fascinating detail in plain sight, what with the address of the terror-filled Airbnb where protagonist Tess (Georgina Campbell) stays: 476 Barbary Street.

Beyond the fact that this is obviously a play on the film's title and what resides within the house, it's also a subtle nod to history.

476 AD is generally accepted to be the year in which the fall of the Roman Empire occurred, and who was it that caused the empire's downfall? That's right, invading barbarian tribes.

It's simply too neat a fit to be coincidental, especially considering how smartly conceived and executed Cregger's film is on the whole.
