5. The Opening Credits Basically Spoil The Entire Movie - Malignant
James Wan's Malignant goes in a totally deranged narrative direction that few could've seen coming when they sat down to watch it - unless you were savvy enough to pore over every last shot in the snazzy opening titles sequence, that is.
Wan decided to include some incredibly unsubtle hints as to the true nature of protagonist Madison (Annabelle Wallis) and the film's murderous antagonist, Gabriel (Marina Mazepa).
The credits consist primarily of random creepy images and excerpts from case files about "Gabriel," with overt references to a "birth with two heads" and the notion of dicephalic parapagus twins, where two heads can share a single torso.
This of course ends up basically being Malignant's big twist: Gabriel was a half-formed child facing out of Madison's back as a child, but Madison (whose real name is actually Emily) underwent surgery to remove Gabriel's body and leave his brain dormant inside of her skull.
But when Madison's husband pushes her against a wall at the start of the film, this causes a fracture which "wakes" Gabriel, who then promptly hijacks Madison's body at will to carry out his murderous bidding.
And so, just as the credits plainly laid out, Malignant is entirely concerned with two twins sharing the same body.
