10 Horrifying Details You Missed In Recent Horror Movies
4. It Takes Place In The Same Universe As Host - Dashcam
Rob Savage's Dashcam is his second film following his scintillating 2020 debut Host, and if you look closely, there are actually allusions that the two films are terrifyingly set within the same cinematic universe.
Beyond the fact that several actors from Host reappear in Dashcam in minor roles, there's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it Easter egg which seems to confirm the two nightmarish evenings indeed transpired within the same world.
When protagonist Annie (Annie Hardy) arrives at the diner and meets a frail old woman named Angela (Angela Enahoro), Angela can be seen changing the channels on the nearby TV with the mere power of her mind.
The TV is rather far away from the camera, but on the screen is a man who can be heard asking for information about the whereabouts of his missing daughter.
In an interview with Den of Geek, Savage confirmed that the man was played by Patrick Ward, who was also the father of a character in Host, Caroline (Caroline Ward), who is killed near the end of that film.
Evidently, Dashcam takes place shortly after the events of Host, with Caroline's body never being discovered. Basically, the world within which these two films exist is freaking cursed.
