10 Horrifyingly Underrated Stephen King Adaptations
4. Pet Sematary Two
What The Critics Said:
Writing for the LA Times, Kevin Thomas put this sequel to sleep by dubbing it to be ‘not nearly as scary as the 1989 original’. The box office wasn’t much kinder, with the film scraping in $17 million compared to the monster $57 million haul of its predecessor.
Why It’s Worth A Watch:
This one deserves to threaten the upper tier of this list as critics - unfairly - treated it like a neglected mutt when it was released in 1992.
Not only does it build on the lore (slightly) of the original, you've got Edward Furlong brooding in the lead role, a killer husky, director Mary Lambert hurling crazed slow motion action scenes at us and enough skinned bunnies and diced kittens to put you off your kibbles.
Ballistic, occasionally brilliant and backed by what you could only assume was a deliberately disjointed soundtrack, this sequel deserves some attention.
