10 Horror Anthology Movies You've Probably Never Seen
2. Three... Extremes
Asian horror is infamous for black haired ghosts and a proliferation of movies about curses. The originals are classics, which in turn spawned wonky western remakes. One thing Asian horror is not as well known for, is the anthology. Even so, when we got one, boy did it deliver.
Fans of Asian cinema, and horror specifically have likely seen Three... Extremes, but the casual fan probably not, so now is the time to broaden their horizon. The movie contains three segments turned in by some of the most reputable directors to come from Asia. The first segment, Dumplings (which was extended to a full length feature), is directed by Fruit Chan (Made in Hong Kong). The second segment, Cut, is directed by Park Chan-Wook (Oldboy). Finally, the third segment, Box, was directed by Takashi Miike (Ichi the Killer).
Rarely do you get a horror anthology with such creative talent, not just from horror, behind the camera, and every minute of this drips with quality. The movie was so well received it even got a sequel, Three... Extremes II.
