10 Horror Films Perfect For Valentine’s Day

6. Valentine

Warm Bodies
Warner Bros.

Either the easiest or most painful watch on this list, Valentine has been a February 14th viewing classic since its 2001 release. You’re opinion of the film will vary on just how cheesy you like your slashers to be. Valentine is definitely in pungent cheese territory, so watch at your own peril.

With Valentine’s Day as the backdrop throughout, the film shows us the killer right from the start being beaten and bullied at a Valentine’s dance. We’re then left guessing which adult-male-of-killing-age is the cherub-mask-wearing serial killer exacting revenge on the five girls who wronged him at the Valentine’s dance. The design of the cherub killer is one the best things about the film, fitting with the Valentine’s theme well, and looking suitably slasher-worthy.

Starring Denise Richards, David Boreanaz, Katherine Heigl, and Jessica Capshaw, Valentine doesn’t have bad actors involved, but they’re not exactly given the most challenging material to show off what they can do.

It's not going to blow your mind, but Valentine is a serviceable slasher that slots perfectly well into anybody's Valentine’s viewing.
