10 Horror Films Set At Halloween To Scare You Perfectly In The Mood
6. Night Of The Demons
A lot of these movies will feature scenes of a Halloween party, but in how many is that Halloween party also a seance? Just one: Night Of The Demons. In this 1988 film, 10 teenagers decide to have a Halloween party at an abandoned funeral parlor. They hold a seance as a party game, because doesn't that sound like a great idea? The parlor, by the way, has the ridiculously on the nose name Hull House.
That's the kind of glorious '80s cheese you're in for with this movie, and it delivers on absolutely every front. As you would expect, during the seance a demon comes out and starts killing everyone, and from there the characters are slowly picked off by an increasing horde of possessed people. Great job, kids!
Right from the opening credits, Night of the Demons is '80s horror at its best: it begins with a catchy theme over an animated title sequence as a pumpkin bursts into the moon, skeletons fly over a cemetery, and lightning strikes a haunted house. It is absolute classic and sets the perfect mood from the first frame. The memorable Halloween feeling continues throughout, and the party sequence itself is particularly fun as these kids dance around a creepy funeral parlor dimly lit with orange lights. If only every Halloween party could be this spooky.
