10 Horror Films That Wasted Their Villain

7. Slender Man - Slender Man

The Bye Bye Man
Sony

The Slender Man movie is of course based on the iconic "creepypasta" meme of the same name, so Hollywood already knew that people were thoroughly creeped out by the suited-up, troublingly gangly humanoid.

But this 2018 film - which, admittedly, arrived a good five years too late - commits the cardinal sin of barely featuring the title character at all.

The movie, which was put through the editorial meat-grinder during its extensive post-production period, gives viewers little more than scattered glimpses of Slender Man throughout.

To make matter worse, the climatic attempt to render Slender Man in his spider-like form is a car crash of atrocious CGI.

It's almost as though making even a mere 91-minute movie about a character who is most successful in small doses wasn't the greatest idea.

As a result, Slender Man is full of tiresome dead air where the title creature hangs back and does nothing. Yawn.
