The Chiodo Brothers have talked about a potential follow-up to their Killer Klowns from Outer Space pretty much since that cult favourite movie released back in 1988. Heck, even your humble scribe here discussed the possibilities with them during an interview back in 2014.

For over 35 years, there have been rumblings of a new Killer Klowns movie or even a TV series. The closest we've got to any sort of sequel came in 2018, when a Killer Klowns 2 was in early development with MGM and SYFY. Unfortunately, that picture would fall apart due to disagreements on budget, and the property has been left spinning its wheels ever since. That is, until IllFonic and Teravision Games released Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game in the summer of 2024.

Now, is that video game flawless? Certainly not, but it's absolutely stirred up some interest in Killer Klowns, be that from fans of the original movie or those only now discovering Killer Klowns due to the game. While the player numbers have clearly fluctuated since the game's release, there's a genuine chance, should ongoing bugs be fixed and player interest maintained through fresh content, that there could be enough renewed interest to do something with the property - be that a new movie or a TV series.

2025 could be a big year for Killer Klowns, but it will obviously take certain key cogs to fall into place.
