10 Horror Franchises Set For A Huge 2025
5. I Know What You Did Last Summer
With the franchise having been dormant since 2006 - or 1998, to those fans fortunate enough to have missed I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer - a new installment in the Last Summer series is currently booked in for a July 2025 release.
A legacy sequel much in the same vein as 2022's Scream - combining original franchise leads with fresh new faces who can drive the property forward - the success of this new movie is very much pivotal to any further plans for the IP. Frustratingly, confusingly titled I Know What You Did Last Summer, should this upcoming offering strike a chord with horror hounds and at the box office, obviously that reignites major interest in the series and opens up the door for more Last Summer outings down the road. On the other side of that coin, of course, should I Know What You Did Last Summer 2025 prove to be a dud, that puts one final nail in the Last Summer coffin for good.
And while Freddie Prinze Jr. has long been confirmed to return as Ray Bronson, more recently we've also finally seen Jennifer Love Hewitt announce that she'll be back as Julie James, the main focus of murderous fisherman Ben Willis in the first two movies.
