10 Horror Franchises That Need A Revival
1. Re-Animator
Re-Animator is one of the most beloved cult horror films of the 1980s - and that's really saying something - largely thanks to its generous and creative gore, dry sense of humour and Jeffrey Combs' terrific performance.
It was modestly successful on its teeny $900,000 budget, eventually leading to two mediocre sequels - Bride of Re-Animator in 1990, and the straight-to-TV Beyond Re-Animator in 2003.
A concerted effort was made to get a third sequel, House of Re-Animator - in which Herbert West reanimates the President of the United States - off the ground, but given the series' lack of commercial viability, it unsurprisingly never happened.
While Re-Animator isn't a marquee brand by any means, its niche nature also means that it doesn't come saddled with a ton of baggage. While fans would love to see Combs return for another go-around, it's far more likely that an enterprising studio would attempt to retool the series for a broader audience with a new, younger and more famous actor playing West.
It's unlikely a new movie will happen any time soon - if ever, honestly - but as long as it didn't stray too far from the series' splatter-ific roots, there's surely some life left in the old the dog yet.
