1. Koko-Di Koko-Da - The Couple Are Stuck In A Deathly Time Loop

Koko Di Koko Da
Dark Star Pictures

While it doesn't quite nail the execution, Koko-Di Koko-Da has a horrifying central premise. Following a couple in the aftermath of suddenly and unexpectedly losing their child, the pair opt to embark on a camping holiday to clear their minds and begin to build their relationship back up.

They're already grief-stricken, and the grey, wet woods where they decide to pitch their tent isn't exactly the picture-perfect vacation spot you'd find on the back of a brochure, but the holiday from hell gets worse when the couple finds themselves stuck in a time loop.

Each day, they're beset by a vicious gang of misfits, including its sadistic ring leader, a hulking brute and their pet dog that has a particular taste for human flesh. At the beginning of each loop, the couple has precious minutes before these unwanted visitors arrive and brutally kill them in a series of grisly ways.

While they try to escape multiple times, something always gets in the way that results in their deaths, and the loop starting over. The ending is left ambiguous, but by then even if they do survive, break the loop and conquer their grief, the couple has already suffered a lifetime of a fate worse than death.
