2. Impetigore - A Ghost Eats Every Baby In The Village

Possessor ending
Shudder Originals

Impetigore is all about a curse. For the past 20 years, the people of Harjosari have been living with a particularly cruel punishment. Every new baby that's born into the village is cursed to be born without skin. After one child lived and suffered a lifetime of pain and misery on the outskirts of town, rather than allowing any more to repeat its fate the elders instead opted to immediately mercy kill every other newborn baby.

Obviously, the people of the town aren't really happy with this set up, and have spent the past 20 years looking for a way to reverse the spell. They finally get their answer in Rahayu, who returns to the village for the first time since she was a child and uncovers a conspiracy that finally stops the curse and allows babies to be born without the skinless affliction.

Everything looks hunky dory until a time skip reveals that while the original curse was successfully vanquished, it's been replaced with an even more sinister one. The final scene shows an expecting couple looking forward to finally being able to have the child they've always wanted, until the mother is just about to give birth and has the baby ripped from her womb and then eaten by the ghost of a recently deceased woman.

The implication is that the town is still cursed to have no new babies born into it, this time enforced by a decidedly more grisly means.

As for this couple, they have to carry on living with the image of their child being feasted upon by this dastardly apparition.
