5. Satan's Plan - Omen III: The Final Conflict & The First Omen
Although The Omen spells out certain aspects surrounding Damien Thorn, aka he Antichrist, other pivotal elements remain hidden. Damien's birth occurs off-screen, his true parents are never shown, and it's also never explained why Satan decided this was the right time to spawn a child and use it to usher in Armageddon.
Omen III: The Final Conflict may be a less-than-stellar sequel, but it does fill in a few blanks in the overarching narrative. In a nutshell, Damien's true purpose is to stop the Second Coming of Christ, which is set to occur on 24 March 1981, and his birth was orchestrated 32 years prior to ensure he had enough time to put himself in a position of power where he could prevent Jesus' return.
But who orchestrated Damien's birth? According to The First Omen, it was none other than... the Catholic Church. In this prequel, Father Brennan divulges how a radical sect of the church had become despondent by the rise of atheism. Out of desperation, they brokered a deal with the Devil to create the Antichrist, hoping to generate enough fear to drive people back to the church.
