10 Horror Movie Characters Who Deserved To Die

2. Henry Bowers - It & It Chapter Two

The Descent
Warner Bros.

If a scientist were to create a bully in a laboratory, the chances are extremely strong that the result would look exactly like Henry Bowers, the secondary antagonist of It and It: Chapter Two.

Simply put, Bowers is despicable. While this label would be appropriate for all bullies, the manner in which Bowers torments the Losers Club is absolutely sadistic; look no further than the sequence in which he attempts to carve his name in Ben Hanscom's side. His father's appalling racism has also permeated into Bowers, which leads to him targeting Mike Hanlon with particular venom. Just to remind you, this is a 12-year-old we're currently discussing. He was already an abominable person long before he was driven fully insane by Pennywise.

Adulthood and an arrest for his father's murder does little to alter Bowers' innate charm; he is freed from a mental hospital by Pennywise after his apparent death in the first installment. The madman immediately picks up where he left off and attempts to murder Eddie before he is ultimately dispatched by Richie.

Bowers is a rare example of a character with no redeemable qualities. The levels of atrocity he inflicts upon the films' protagonists means that the audience literally don't even feel sorry for him despite the fact that his sickening personality is as a result of the abuse directed at him by his equally sickening father. Some people are just beyond saving and the audience spend every second Bowers is on screen praying for his sticky end to come about sooner rather than later.
