10 Horror Movie Characters Who Deserved To Die
3. Margaret White, Christine Hargensen & Billy Nolan - Carrie
The fact that Carrie - the 1976 film version of Stephen King's unsettling tale of a young girl bestowed with telekinesis - features not one but three characters utterly deserving of a grisly end, speaks volumes about the abominable nature of said characters.
Margaret White, Carrie's mother, is simply put, a religious fanatic. She projects her own delusions onto her daughter as a result of her shame at enjoying Carrie's conception, which is implied to have occurred in an instance of marital sexual assault. The sequence in which Margaret locks the frightened teenager in a prayer "closet" after Carrie menstruates for the first time is absolutely gut wrenching, such is the pity the audience feels for Carrie.
Christine "Chris" Hargensen and her vile boyfriend Billy Nolan are also horrendous individuals, but in a different type of context. Chris mercilessly bullies Carrie, particularly cruelly after she experiences her first period. As if the ghastly pair weren't bad enough, the couple conspire to dump a bucket of pig's blood over the unsuspecting Miss White, carrying out their appalling prank at her high school prom.
Margaret, Chris and Billy are a trio as deserving of death as one will likely ever find in any film, let alone a horror. Thankfully, King and director Brian De Palma clearly agreed with this consensus; Carrie uses her supernatural powers to send Chris and Billy to their deaths in a fiery car wreck as they attempt to run her down, while Margaret is impaled with a variety of household items after the demented mother attempts to murder her own daughter.
Karma is a b*tch.
