10 Horror Movie Characters Who Didn't Really Have To Die

9. Ismael Cruz - Halloween (2007)

Despite Michael Myers' infamous legacy, he's depicted in a more sympathetic light 2007's Halloween remake. Unable to deal with his malicious family or cruel bullies, you understand why this incarnation of Michael turned to murder.

When he's transferred to a sanitarium, the staff treat Michael like an animal, compelling him to become more withdrawn. While staying in the facility for 15 years, the only person who spoke to Michael like an equal was the senior prison guard, Ismael Cruz. Ismael didn't just talk to Michael - he gave him advice on how to survive in the sanitarium without going crazy. (Michael obviously failed big-time, but at least Ismael tried to help.)

When Michael goes on a killing spree in the hospital, you can tell he has some sense of morality, since he still cares for his sister, Laurie. So, as he's about to exit the building, you expect him to spare Ismael.

Instead, the poor guy gets it the worst. Despite Ismael's kindness towards him, Michael stuffs his former friend's head in a sink of water, trying to drown him. After that, he crushes Ismael's head with a tv. Even though we know Michael is brutal, this scene breaks your heart a little, especially when Ismael blubbers, "I was good to you, Mikey!" before being murdered.
