The Paranormal Activity franchise is full of characters who, despite witnessing a bevy of suspicious phenomena in their midst, stick around long enough to get themselves killed by demonic entities.
Yet in the fourth movie, it seemed like protagonist Alex's (Kathryn Newton) best friend Ben (Matt Shively) was going to do the rare smart thing and get the hell outta there.
In the film's climax, Ben heads to Alex's house to warn her that she's being targeted by a coven, at which point he hears a loud thud upstairs.
Ben, clearly agitated, takes his sweet time inching closer to the stairs, seemingly well aware that going up to investigate the sound is a supremely dumb thing to do.
And yet he does it, heading into Alex's bedroom to check her laptop. Moments later, a possessed Katie (Katie Featherston) appears behind him and snaps his neck, killing him instantly.
Seriously, dude, all you had to do was walk out the front door you clearly knew you were supposed to.
