10 Horror Movie Characters Who Repeatedly Made The Wrong Decisions

5. Laurie Strode - Halloween

Halloween's Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) may be one of the most beloved and generally sensible horror movie Final Girls, but she does nevertheless have a near-terminal tendency to drop weapons the second she's done using them.

In the original film's climax, Laurie manages to stab an attacking Michael Myers (Nick Castle) in the neck with a knitting needle and take his knife, but rather than keep hold of the knife once Michael goes down, seemingly dead, she just drops the damn thing.

Michael's back to his feet moments later of course, and when he attacks Laurie as she hides inside a closet, she at least manages to get his knife again, stabbing and again incapacitating him. But once more, Laurie doesn't keep the knife on her person, and surprise surprise, Michael still isn't out for the count, ensuring that when he attacks Laurie next, she's only saved by a gun-toting Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence).

Regular folk definitely don't like handling stabbing weapons, but even so, when you're dealing with a seemingly unstoppable force of nature like Michael Myers, it behooves you to keep one in hand.

And Laurie apparently didn't even learn her lesson this time, as in the seventh film, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, she again drops the knife after naively believing Michael to be dead. At this point you really have to consider whether or not Laurie might have an undiagnosed metal allergy.
