10 Horror Movie Douchebags We Love To Hate

8. Patrick Bateman - American Psycho (2000)

It's hard to like a vain, self-centered sociopath, even if he lost his marbles. Thankfully, 2000's American Psycho doesn't try to sway us, opting instead to show the darker side of money and power, and more specifically eighties-era yuppie culture.

Patrick Bateman is a wealthy investment banker living the New York high life. Despite appearing to have everything, Patrick still wants more and the psychotic serial killer butchers anyone in his way.

Bateman is one of cinema's ultimate anti-heroes - he's ridiculously vain and will resort to homicidal violence over the pettiest slight. Yet he's the sole focus and we are forced to watch as he is unspeakably vulgar towards women and routinely marvels at his own beauty and intelligence.

Despite our boiling dislike, we want to see what outlandish thing Bateman will get away with next, and therein lies the charm of the film.

Hi! The first thing you should know about me is that I'm a HUGE horror movie nut. A confirmed addict to the WhatCulture Horror YouTube channel I thought I'd try my luck on their writing team. I'm a wannabe author with one completed manuscript submitted to a few agents. Please cross your fingers for me! I am currently working on my second book. If you wanna talk horror or need any movie recommendations, I'm your man! Give me a follow on Instagram... since there doesn't seem to be a section for that in the "socials" tab @that_horror_nerd
