10 Horror Movie Douchebags We Love To Hate
7. John Strode - Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers (1995)
Excluding Rob Zombie's hideously scripted remakes, the Halloween franchise has been quite good at crafting likeable characters. Sure, some may be slightly annoying, but rarely have we truly hated one.
1995's Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers changed things up with the introduction of John Strode, the patriarch from hell. Although only a supporting character and largely removed from the film's convoluted plot, John is likely the character you'll remember most.
Character actor Bradford English's hulking frame perfectly embodies Strode, who is unwavering with his cruelty as he looms over his family during a particularly depressing breakfast. In a few short minutes we witness Strode disrespect his wife and son before labelling his grandson a "bastard."
The cherry on top of Strode's mean-spirited character is the vicious slap he issues his daughter when she dares to challenge him. He is without doubt a perfectly written scumbag we long to see on the body count, and when it finally happens the sight is beyond glorious.
Michael Myers puts on a show disposing of Papa Strode, resulting in the only exploding head the Halloween franchise has ever seen.
