10 Horror Movie Douchebags We Love To Hate
5. The Entire Football Team - The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999)
Although dismissed at the time of its release, it's fair to say that The Rage: Carrie 2 deserves another look.
The plot thread of Carrie White having a convenient half-sister might seem hammy - and the soundtrack and dialogue may seem dated - but Carrie 2 has some observations about high school that are more relevant now than ever before.
Using their positions of power and popularity, the high school football team is shown as a group of chauvinistic spoiled brats. Throughout their scenes they are constantly objectifying women and even make a game out of scoring them after a sexual encounter.
Ultimately this leads to the tragic suicide of protagonist Rachel's best friend and is the catalyst for her telekinetic revenge spree. The film's climax at the house party from hell ends up being a properly cathartic watch, as we see the entitled, smarmy team mates run scared and then get mercilessly cut down.
Carrie 2 acts as a cautionary reminder to be respectful to others or face dire consequences, and is in real need of reappraisal.
