10 Horror Movie Franchises That Never Seem To End

5. Hellraiser

Few authors are given the chance to be able to direct the movie version of their own work, but Clive Barker got that opportunity and he did a damn fine job too with Hellraiser. Since then, what was once a little novella has turned into a multimedia monster.

There have been books, comics, and figurines, released to compliment the movie franchise. How long is that franchise, you cry? As of 2018 Hellraiser reached the milestone tenth movie with Hellraiser: Judgement.

One of the major reasons for reaching that many films is that Dimension Films, who owns the rights to the Hellraiser franchise, were required to make a Hellraiser film every so many years otherwise the rights reverted back. This has resulted in Hellraiser films getting released every few years pretty much since the first film.

Now, due to the success of the last Halloween sequel in 2018, production has been ramped up on not only another film, but a TV show as well, with significant talent attached to both. David Bruckner (The Ritual) is in line to direct the film, and HBO are behind the TV show, which means we won't be seeing the end of Hellraiser anytime soon. All things considered, that's a good thing. There's always more room on the big and small screen for cenobites and lemarchand's box.

Avid writer of nonsense. Can often be seen in his natural habitat watching far too many films and not enough TV. Occasionally plays on the Xbox and Megadrive whilst chastising himself for not writing more.
