10 Horror Movie Franchises That Never Seem To End

4. The Amityville Horror

Though we can bemoan the prolific nature of sequels, prequels, and everything in between, there's usually a good financial reason why a franchise continues to get the treatment. However, the same can not be said for the Amityville Horror franchise.

The only two films in the franchise that made any significant amount of cash were the original and the remake. Everything else has made next to nothing in their limited theatrical releases, and their rotten tomatoes scores leave a lot to be desired, ranging from as high as 30% to a measly 5% for Amityville Horror 3-D.

With 11 films released between 1979 and 2018, and a twelfth to be released imminently in 2020, there appears to be no end in sight for a horror franchise that features one of the most recognisable horror houses in move history. Half of the movies you've probably never even heard of. Amityville Dollhouse? Amityville: It's About Time? About time for what?
