10 Horror Movie Heroes That Should Have Been Villains

1. Ed And Lorraine Warren - The Conjuring Franchise

James Wan's Conjuring Universe revolves around real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga respectively), with the Warrens doing all they can to protect those terrorised by supernatural threats. Based on their actions and intentions, these ghost hunters are obviously the good guys, right?

Although the Warrens' cases have been well-documented, many of these so-called hauntings were believed to be hoaxes, including The Amityville Horror and The Enfield Poltergeist, which is the basis of The Conjuring 2.

To be fair, facts are often bent for the sake of entertainment - as the old saying goes, "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story" - but since the Warrens are known as charlatans in many circles, it would've been interesting if their film counterparts were depicted as such. Rather than being pure of heart, Ed and Lorraine could be seen as con artists who prey on vulnerable families for a quick buck.

Of course, The Conjuring probably wouldn't have become a billion-dollar franchise if it went with this angle. Nevertheless, portraying the Warrens as hucksters would've be much closer to reality than what we got.
