10 Horror Movie Heroes Who Fell For The Same S**t In The Sequel
1. Tommy Jarvis Thinks He's Defeated Jason For Good - Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
When you're dealing with a seemingly supernatural serial killer, you should probably never, ever believe they're dead for good - a mistake made by Friday the 13th's Tommy Jarvis.
In the fourth movie, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, young Tommy (Corey Feldman) seemingly defeats Jason (Ted White) for good by hacking him to pieces with a machete.
Jason sits out the fifth film which instead features a Jason copycat, but he returns for the sixth movie, Jason Lives, albeit largely due to Tommy himself.
Tommy (Thom Mathews), still traumatised from his encounter with Jason, wants to dig up Jason's corpse and cremate him, hoping it'll bring him some closure, but in doing so causes Jason's corpse to be struck by lightning, resurrecting him as a zombie.
The film ends with Tommy narrowly defeating Jason again by anchoring him to the bottom of Camp Crystal Lake, believing that he's ended Jason's reign of terror by returning him "home," even though he remains very much alive on the lake's floor.
Though Tommy's torment seemingly ends here, Jason is freed from his bondage at the start of the seventh film, The New Blood, to start up his killing spree all over again.
We've not seen Tommy in any official capacity since Jason Lives, but considering Jason's several rampages since then, it's tough to believe that word wouldn't have gotten back to him that his celebration was twice-premature.
