10 Horror Movie Killers We All Reluctantly Loved

1. Freddy Krueger

If there was one character that we should hate above all else, it's the killer of dreams himself. His backstory is, by far, one of the most horrific but there is just a wit and a charm to Freddie Krueger that almost force you to love him.

Unlike a lot of other horror killers, he isn't heavily reliant on his signature weapon in some ways. After all, at least when he uses his finger knives he can get a bit creative and drag someone onto the ceiling or create a blood geyser out of their bed. He's like the equivalent of the really creepy bloke that used to live down the road. You know that he is definitely a bit dodgy but he's so funny that you can't really hate him properly.

And considering Freddie is often put on a pedestal with Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees, two mute shapes who run around with a machete or a knife, Freddie has some flair. He has a personality, a dark humour and a few pretty solid sequels to back him up. Of course, he did fall victim to some of the horrific ones (and we all know which ones they are) but possibly the best part of Freddie is that Robert Englund remained in the role until the remake and that gave the Springwood Slasher an extra little bit of charm.
