10 Horror Movie Mistakes You Never Noticed Before
7. What's My Age Again? - What We Do in the Shadows (2014)
What We Do in the Shadows revolutionised the vampire movie, just as the genre was coming down from Twilight mania and entering a cold spell. It also launched director and star Taika Waititi into the mainstream and scored him a sweet gig at Marvel, but despite his masterful handling of his material, he has still made a few mistakes.
The film centres on Waititi's Viago von Dorna Schmarten Scheden Heimburg, an old-fashioned vampire in a modern world, living and thriving in Wellington, New Zealand, with a complement of kooky, bloodsucking housemates. While every detail about the character - from his period dress, to his outdated social norms - is spot on, there is one pretty hefty error that goes unaccounted for, but which the casual viewer wouldn't typically notice.
When we are introduced to Viago, the on-screen captions state that he is 379 years old, but he later reveals he was born in 1795, and was an 18th-century dandy before he became a vampire. A bit of quick maths tells us that, if Viago was 379 years old in 2014, that would make his birthday 1635 - over a century before the dandies existed. Well, you can't get everything right.
