10 Horror Movie Mistakes You Never Noticed Before
2. Gun Jam - Longlegs (2024)
Longlegs, Osgood Perkins' heavily stylised sojourn into the police procedural horror took audiences by surprise last year, netting $127 million against a sub-$10m budget and keeping experimental indie horror's place at the table while Ari Aster, Julia Ducournau and Panos Cosmatos are off doing other things.
We tumble into the quiet yet profoundly unstable life of FBI Agent Lee Harker (Maika Monroe) just as she is discovering the extent of her clairvoyant powers, and how they might relate to mysterious serial killer Longlegs (Nicolas Cage). After an extended game of cat and mouse, Lee finally catches up with not only Longlegs but his accomplice - her own mother Ruth (Alicia Witt) - and faces off against the latter in the home of her entranced boss William Carter (Blair Underwood).
Harker uses a revolver to dispatch Ruth and William, before attempting to put down one of Longlegs' creepy devil dolls. But, while she uses the gun to its capacity and beyond, discharging it into all of her attackers and then turning on the doll, each time she pulls the trigger the chamber does not move an inch.
It's called a revolver for a reason.
