In Jordan Peele's Get Out, Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) is invited to the family estate of his girlfriend, Rose Armitage. To his horror, Chris learns the Armitages are transplanting the brains of their elderly friends into younger bodies, as a means to cheat death. What's worse is the surgical procedure causes the host's consciousness to remain trapped in a subconscious void, where they're alive, but helpless.

Realising he's about to be the Armitage's latest victim, Chris kills Rose's family and destroys their estate.

Originally, Get Out was meant to have a more depressing conclusion, with Chris being arrested for his actions. Over time, Peele changed his mind, believing the film shouldn't end on a downer.

However, there's nothing happy about Get Out's climax. Chris is fully aware the Armitages have performed this procedure on others. Even though he got out unscathed, Chris knows there are dozens of people who've been turned into passengers in their own bodies, and will remain so for decades.

Also, won't the Armitages' extended family, friends, and benefactors hunt Chris to the ends of the Earth, since he effectively destroyed their whole operation?

Get Out seems to have an uplifting ending, but many issues are left unresolved.
