The first in a series of geometric horror movies, 1997's Cube begins with a pre-credits scene not for the faint of heart. A man wakes up in a strange room, no idea where he is or how he got there. After looking around for a moment he sees that there is an exit. Or so he thinks.

He leaves one cube-shaped room only to find himself in another, this time with spooky red lighting. Oh, and a wire mesh that swings right through, cutting him up into chunks like he was raw beef.

This sets the scene for the rest of the movie, which is about seven other characters who wake up in the same murderous structure. The film details their attempts to escape the cube and the various traps they come across whilst trying to do so.

The enclosed space the man wakes up in will trigger claustrophobia in people who didn't even know they had it. The idea of waking up in a confined space is bad enough, but then realising that your stuck with a load of deadly booby traps? That's enough to give anyone cube-shaped nightmares.
