It doesn't matter if you choose the 1987 film directed by Joseph Ruben or the 2009 one directed by Nelson McCormick, either of these films called The Stepfather aren't particularly nice to watch.

The lead character changes names depending on which version you choose. In the original, he's called Henry Morrison and he's played by Lost star Terry O'Quinn. In 2009, he's played by Dylan Walsh and called Grady Edwards.

Both lead characters have the same flaw though; they both assume multiple identities in search of the perfect family and kill the people they live with if they're not up to scratch.

Each version of The Stepfather starts the same way, with the main character cleaning himself up after butchering his supposed loved ones. With an attitude nothing short of psychopathic, the killer packs up his things and leaves the house, ready to do it all over again.

How did he kill his family? How many others did he have to murder to keep his identity a secret? How many times has he done this before? All of these chilling questions will race through your mind as you witness one man's twisted obsession with perfection.
