One of the big kahunas of horror is 1978's Halloween, the film that gave us Michael Myers long before Austin Powers did.

It opens on Michael as a young boy, home alone with his older sister and her boyfriend. He watches the two get their freak on, before moving to the kitchen and plucking a large knife from one of the drawers. The youngster then proceeds to don a mask and stab his sister multiple times with the blade, leaving her for dead.

The intro is brilliantly shot from Michael's perspective, putting audiences right at the heart of the violence. Watching a murder through the eyes of a killer child is one thing, but it's another to think about why the boy was pushed to such extremes.

His sister is more concerned with getting laid than taking care of her brother, but she isn't the real monster here. Those are Michael's parents, who clearly love to abandon their young son on a regular basis.

Had they been better to their boy, then he would have never murdered his sister. By proxy, all the blood Myers has ever spilt is on their hands too.
