10 Horror Movie Openings That Pissed Everyone Off
4. Flashbacks Galore - Silent Night Deadly Night Part 2
There are lazy, cynical sequels, and then there's Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2, which left unsuspecting fans of the original cult horror scarcely able to believe quite how brazenly they'd been hoodwinked.
The sequel kicks off with Ricky Caldwell (Eric Freeman), the brother of the original film's killer, being interviewed by a psychiatrist in a mental hospital, where he's incarcerated for a series of murders he committed.
The film sees Ricky not only detail the murders he committed, but pore back over his past from the first film, with roughly 40 minutes of the movie's 88-minute runtime consisting of footage literally recycled from the previous movie.
But rather than lure audiences into a false sense of security by bloating the first act out with newly shot material, it's barely five minutes before we're revisiting entire scenes from the first film again.
The shamelessness of the whole debacle would be admirable were it not so utterly infuriating. Thankfully, at least, word of mouth spread quickly and the cash-grab sequel to end all cash-grab sequels bombed at the box office.
