10 Horror Movie Parodies You've Never Seen
7. Killer Piñata
Killer Piñata is (unsurprisingly) about a killer piñata. After the titular character watches a family smash his kind to pieces for their own amusement, the piñata decides to kill them all to avoid suffering the same fate.
Now, having a killer composed of papier-mache is a pretty stupid plot. Nobody is going to contest that. (It would be weird if you did.) But this premise could work. Child's Play's killer doll storyline is just as absurd but that franchise has being going strong for over 30 years.
So, does Killer Piñata work? Not even a little bit. The film was made for £3,000 in eight days and it shows. Even though it's intentionally dumb and everything plays out with tongue firmly in cheek, there isn't a single memorable line or creative kill. Most of the film involves extraneous characters spouting generic dialogue, solely to fill up the runtime. Although horror rarely shy away from pointless sex scenes, they feel REALLY out of place here.
If you are among the few who enjoyed the movie, you'll be happy to know its sequel, Bride of Killer Piñata, will be released this year.
