10 Horror Movie Remakes Better Than You Remember
9. Fright Night (2011)
The original Fright Night is 80s cheese through and through. Like so many horror movies of its time, the vampire movie about a teen who's convinced an undead being has moved in next door, plays out kind of like an incredibly gory Saturday morning cartoon.
Thankfully, the 2011 version didn't try to throw out the humour inherent to the original version, and sticks close to the spirit that made it such a cult hit.
It also helps that the remake had the money to splash out on an all-star cast that bring the required charisma to the flick. Compelling performances from Colin Farrell, David Tennant, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Toni Collette and the late, great Anton Yelchin hold the movie together, and elevate the material at every step.
It sadly didn't set the box office alight in 2011, but doesn't deserve to be thrown in with so many other lifeless remakes from the same period.
