10 Horror Movie Scenes That Totally Trolled Everyone

Netflix's The Open House would've been an aggressively forgettable home invasion horror were it not for its maddening joke of an ending.

The film ends with protagonist Logan (Dylan Minnette) being tricked into stabbing his own mother, Naomi (Piercey Dalton), to death, before the serial killer (Edward Olson) removes Logan's contact lenses.

And so, Logan flees into the woods with his vision severely impaired, and though he survives until morning, he's eventually caught by the killer, who promptly strangles him to death.

We then see Logan's lifeless corpse before the killer heads off to his next open house event to terrorise another family, and that's all she wrote. 

While not quite a non-ending on the insulting level of The Devil Inside, the fact that we never learn the killer's identity nor his motives reeks less of intentional mystique than overwhelming laziness. 

Couple that with our protagonist's hasty murder and it felt like the filmmakers straight-up thumbing their nose at the audience.

Joke's on us for expecting an entertaining or even basically interesting conclusion, right?
