10 Horror Movie Sequels Coming In 2019
4. The Gallows Act II - 31st May
Released in 2013, The Gallows is no feat of filmmaking by any stretch of the imagination.
A simple found footage movie that sticks to cliche like a badly glued hairpiece, the story follows a school play where student Charlie, to the surprise of everyone, dies performing a part involving an actual noose and being hung from the titular gallows. Despite this being definitely, horrifically bad, the school decides to memorialise the occasion by performing the same play again 20 years later. Of course, this does not end well.
It seems that the murderous noose-wielding ghost hasn't got his message across then, since The Gallows Act II is hitting screens this year. Focussing now on a viral challenge that riles up a malevolent spirit, Act II seems to be cashing in on the success of titles like Unfriended and Friend Request, though is maybe doing so a few years too late. Either way - it's a schlocky internet horror movie that has the potential to be a sleeper hit considering the crazy $39 million profit margin of the first movie.
People really love bad decisions and shaky cameras.
